HOW TO GET A MIXED METALS MAKEUP LOOK

Choosing metallic eye shadow for your New Year’s Eve makeup might feel a bit “florals for spring” – but this season, the classic look is getting an overhaul.

After years of dainty, matchy-matchy gold and silver looks, we’re embracing maximalist metal makeup. Rather than stick to a single shade, we’re stacking and layering our metallics like vintage costume jewelry.

“For so long, mixing metals was seen as a fashion faux pas,” says Victor Cembellin, M·A·C Global Senior Artist. “Now, these metallic colour combinations feel extremely modern as we embrace the unconventional.”

Whether you want a bold flourish or something a little more delicate, the secret to this more-is-more makeup look is in the Artistry. Mix and melt metallics into one another, creating harmony in the imperfection. “Precious metals don’t need to be ‘precious’ when it comes to makeup application,” says Cembellin. “This is the unpolished movement of polished metals.”

“THIS IS THE UNPOLISHED MOVEMENT OF
POLISHED METALS.”
