MACzine: Ashtin Earle On Her Favorite MAC Products & Beauty Tips

For Ashtin Earle, having her entire existence streamed to an audience of millions is just another day in the life. Since the premiere of the new reality show following her and her sister, Ashtin has been booked and busy – including a M·A·Czine cover shoot, where she sat down with us to share her lore: the meaning behind her bio, sister-approved beauty advice, and the reality both on and offscreen.

ALL EYES ON ASHTIN

Look up Ashtin Earle and there it is: ‘tall, dark, & handsome.’ As fitting it may seem, Ashtin didn’t mean for her social media bio to be taken seriously. “I made it in high school as a joke, just because I’m tall, I have dark hair, I like to wear dark clothes, and I’m so handsome,” she laughs. “Everything I do is ironic. But it just kind of stuck. I’ve never changed my bio, and now it’s a thing people talk about.”

The other thing that people are talking about? The new reality show following the lives of Ashtin and her family to audiences around the world. “Something people will learn about me on Earle Meets World that might surprise them is the fact that I do have emotions sometimes,” shares Ashtin. “People assume I’m really outgoing because I’m posting on social media, but I’m actually really awkward and shy in person. It takes me a while to warm up to people.”

In a family full of big personalities, Ashtin has emerged as one of the show’s breakout stars. But she names her younger brother Thomas as the most stylish family member – not to mention the most thoughtful. “This was my Valentine’s Day gift from him this year because my family calls me ‘Turtle,’” she explains, pulling out a LEGO replica of the reptile. “That’s my nickname because I’m very slow – it’s my favourite little trinket and I bring him everywhere with me.”

THE BEAUTY BEHIND THE EARLE

When it comes to beauty tips, Ashtin doesn’t have to look far to get inspiration. “The best beauty advice anyone has ever given me was when my sister told me to thin out my eyebrows,” she reveals. “She’s a real one – I got a facelift when I cut my eyebrows in half and I was like ‘Wow!’ I felt more snatched.”

When it comes to her everyday makeup, dark and cool tones lead the way. “One thing in makeup I don’t like on myself is anything really pink. Every time I try to put a pink lip on, I feel like I look like a clown, but it looks so good on other people.” Her hottest beauty take? “This might be controversial,” she confesses. “I know most people always say no look is complete without mascara, but honestly when I’m doing my normal glam, I feel like I don’t need it, but that’s just a ‘me’ thing.”

For a full-faced beat, Ashtin’s designated family member would be her younger sister Izabelle, AKA @izabaddie. “She’s everything to me. She has the best makeup,” says Ashtin, even admitting that she steals Izabelle’s makeup – including her lip gloss. “If I could trust anyone to do my makeup without any instructions, it would be her. I’ve had her do her routine on me before, and she slays.”

EARLE MEETS M·A·C

She’s the face of M·A·Czine today, but Ashtin’s initial memories with the brand go back to her childhood. “My first M·A·C product was the Ruby Woo Lipstick,” she says. “I used to do dance competitions when I was younger, and for our Christmas performances we had to get specifically Ruby Woo, and I’ll never forget it.” Of course, her tastes have changed since then, with Lip Pencil in Stone and Plum now being core components of her lip combo. “I usually pair them with Lipglass. I’ll blend it out, throw the gloss on and call it a day.”

Ashtin knows exactly what her own M·A·C product would be. “I would name it ‘Tini’ because my friends call me Tini and I love martinis,” she explains. “I would want to make it look like a martini glass if possible. So, if it had clear packaging, you could see the lipstick on the inside – that would be really cool.” And as for the best martini in New York? “I love The Odeon,” Ashtin says. “It’s right by my apartment in Tribeca, and they just have great vibes and great martinis.”
