I’m a Southerner, by way of the Midwest. Now I live in Harlem, New York which is great because I love abstract art, soulful music and dancing. 
I would sneak onto my mother’s dresser, play in her makeup and wigs and try to make myself look like Lena Horne or Diahann Carroll. It was the 70s, every woman had wigs. 
Hanging out in Harlem, sharing a great meal with good friends or dancing to house music.
