I’m from northern England but now live in Hong Kong where I am the Director of Artistry. There is so much diversity in makeup styles in Asia and I love being able to mix both western and eastern references.
Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation is a genius formula that truly makes everyone’s skin look perfect. It’s the ultimate timeless M∙A∙C product that works on any age, race, man or woman. I still smile when I see people whip it out of their bag to touch up in a restaurant or on the subway.
I fell in love with Seoul on my very first visit. It’s so fast paced and never seems to stop. I’m really big on multipurpose products, so first I would bring Mineralize Skinfinish Natural to use on little problem areas or for an overall even skin look. Next, I would choose the Brow Set in Clear because I like a well-groomed brow. I also am obsessing over Lightful Softening Lotion, packed with Vitamin C. It makes my skin feel hydrated but never greasy.
I grew up in the 1980s, surrounded by images of icons of the day like Boy George and Cyndi Lauper who were hugely influential with amazing makeup. I remember drawing big red lips on the cover of my Bananarama album in a felt tip pen. I thought the girls looked much cooler like that!
Working backstage at any of the Alexander McQueen shows was always incredible. You could feel that a true moment in fashion history was happening. My favourite still has to be Autumn 2006 and seeing the hologram of Kate Moss appear in the pyramid. Watching it again still gives me goosebumps.
I started my makeup career working at the M∙A∙C counter in the Trafford Centre in Manchester. My first day, we all wore Eye Shadow in Bitter. I’d never worn any makeup before in my life so this felt like a huge deal to me. It was really liberating!
